My Platform
Let’s Do This — For Our Kids, Our Schools, and Our Future

Student Achievement

The data is clear: Newark students are not being adequately served.

  • Nearly 70% of students in grades 3–9 are not meeting ELA proficiency benchmarks

  • Around 82% are failing to meet math standards

  • 93% of 5th graders are below grade‑level in science

These results are unacceptable. Every child deserves a school that teaches the basics—reading, writing, math, and science—without excuses.

I will:

  • Get back to the basics with focused investments in literacy, math, and science

  • Expand early intervention and structured support programs

  • Demand real accountability from district leadership—no more passing the buck.

Empower Parents

Parents deserve to know what’s happening in the classroom — and to have a say in their child’s education.

I will:

  • Defend parental rights and transparency in curriculum, policies, and school decisions

  • Make sure schools communicate clearly and consistently with families

  • Work with Parent Councils across the district so families have a voice — not just a seat in the audience

  • Invest in family resource hubs to help parents navigate academics, behavior, and school services

Schools should partner with parents — not act above them.

Fiscal Responsibility

Newark’s school system spends over $1 billion a year. With outcomes this low, families have every right to ask: Where’s the return?

I will:

  • Ensure every tax dollar is tied to student success — not wasted on bloated bureaucracy, balloons, or parties

  • Push for clear, public-facing budgets and spending reports

  • Prioritize funding classrooms, teachers, and student programs — not administrative excess

Our schools don’t need more money — they need to spend what they have smarter and with accountability.

Invest in the Future

Not every student is going to college — and that’s okay. We need to prepare students for real life with real-world skills.

I will:

  • Expand STEM, robotics, and AI programs starting in middle school

  • Strengthen career and technical education (CTE) and trade pathways

  • Partner with local employers, trade unions, and colleges to create work-based learning pipelines

Let’s stop pushing one-size-fits-all education. Every student should graduate ready for college, work, or entrepreneurship — with purpose and pride.
